This verse is dictating the finished work of God. Jesus Christ, the Son of God was crucified- blameless. He had NO SIN recorded in his entire life.
Why anybody should have sacrificed for the sins of the entire world--- God loves us immensely and it is sin that separates man from God. hence, a perfect sacrifice of redemption was mandatory.
Many people are still sceptical about how Jesus blood can wash away the sin of the entire world (all the generations) - -- Animal offerings had been a law in olden days to receive forgiveness of Sins.It cannot be any random animal but it required to fulfil the specific criteria's like - first born, blameless, spotless, young, healthy etc...
Sin offerings were paid off with animal sacrifices but it could'nt fulfil the purpose of establishing a relationship with God, neither it can transform the sinful heart of man. So it was needed to have a complete and perfect sacrifice- which was made through Jesus Christ - He was innocent, blameless, sinless. Because He is the Son of God, His blood has completeness to forgive the sins of all mankind once for all.
The good news is: Christ has already paid the price for you on the cross. Just believe on him and live a Righteous Life.
